Edward has been a leader in charity investment consultancy for nearly 30 years and is a co-founder of PMCL Consulting. At PMCL, Edward advises a wide range of charity clients on effective governance and improving the efficiency of boards and investment committees. He also acts as a skilled negotiator on behalf of clients, particularly in securing competitive fees with fund managers.
Prior to PMCL, Edward founded Jewson Associates, a specialist consultancy advising charities, endowments, and foundations on investment management arrangements. His success led to its acquisition by Stanhope Capital LLP, where Edward became a partner and Head of Stanhope Jewson.

Tatyana is the co-founder of PMCL Consulting, where she plays a pivotal role in shaping investment strategies for charity clients, specialising in sustainable and impact investing, asset allocation, and ongoing portfolio monitoring. Her prior experience as an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research, where she led cross-regional thematic research teams and advised major global asset managers, is invaluable to PMCL’s clients.

Tatyana’s background includes advising on complex investment decisions and developing forward-looking research insights, which now benefit charities looking to balance strong returns with ethical investments. She is a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, sits on the judging panel for the prestigious PAM Awards, and is also a prominent speaker and contributor in the charity investment management sector, further enhancing her ability to provide strategic, mission-aligned advice to PMCL’s clients.
Sarah Whiteley
Investment Associate
Sarah has worked in the financial sector for twenty years with a focus on charities. She has a broad spectrum of experience ranging from retail banking to asset management and investment consultancy. Companies she worked for include Newton Investment Management, SG Hambros Bank Ltd and Lloyds TSB Bank.

Sarah brings a strong understanding of the investment industry and the charity sector through her career and also through her Trustee roles. She is currently working as an investment associate assisting the team with portfolio analytics and client reporting.
David Smart
Senior Consultant
David is an experienced investment professional with extensive experience as a fixed income and balanced portfolio manager, an asset allocation advisor to the United Nations Pension Fund for 28 years and a relationship manager with a particular focus on Sovereign Funds. David has a strong commitment to the charity sector and experience chairing investment committees of The National Trust, The Health Foundation and Benefact Trust. David also serves as an independent member of the Investment Committee of Beazley plc, and sits on the Investment Advisory Committee of UNRWA.

At PMCL David contributes his expertise and ideas on a number of complex investment issues and specific asset classes, including sustainable investing and ESG integration, impact investing, private equity and debt.
Robert Hayes
Senior Consultant
Robert has a long investment career as an institutional portfolio manager and investment strategist, advising and implementing asset allocation and risk management approaches for charities, pension funds and insurance companies globally. He was Investment Director for UK Charities and Endowments at BlackRock and prior to that CEO of BlackRock Fund Managers Limited and head of investment oversight for regulated funds and products in Europe.
Now working as an independent advisor he has particular interests in assisting clients with asset allocation strategy and manager evaluation. In addition to working with PMCL on these important topics, he serves as a Trustee and advisor for a number of institutions including the Goldsmiths’ Company and the University of Southampton.
James Bedford
Regulatory and Compliance Supervisor
James is a founding partner and Chief Investment Officer of Thornbridge Investment Management, a firm that provides regulatory hosting services to PMCL.

James has been working in finance since 1987. He was a partner in the equities team at Cazenove & Co for many years and then a managing director in the funds team at JP Morgan Asset Management.
At PMCL James’s role is enabling us to carry out regulated activities under Thornbridge’s compliance umbrella, providing all required training and ensuring adherence to all regulatory and compliance requirements.
Charlotte Deakin
Compliance Manager
Charlotte Deakin is a Compliance Manager responsible for ongoing monitoring and the supervision of PMCL operations at Thornbridge Investment Management, a firm that provides regulatory hosting services to PMCL.
Charlotte obtained a Marketing and Management BA, 1st Class Honours from Newcastle University. Charlotte has been awarded the CISI Diploma in Investment Compliance and the CISI Investment Advice Diploma.
